Getting started
Who can join?
Riders of all ages, from about 6 years old to adults. Each group is matched to age and ability.
Do you coach adults?
Yes. Adults can join the skills sessions and club rides, or book private lessons to work on a specific skill.
I (or my child) have never ridden a mountain bike. Can we join?
Yes. Beginners start with balance, braking and body position on easy ground, then move on as they are ready.
How do we sign up?
Send us your details on the Join page or WhatsApp the coach. We'll match you to a group and send you a personal sign-up link for the full registration: medical details, sessions and the club agreement.
Can we try a session first?
Send us a WhatsApp and we'll tell you which session suits you or your child best and when to come.
Bikes and kit
What bike do I need?
A mountain bike that fits the rider, with working brakes and gears. It doesn't need to be expensive. Ask us if you're unsure about size or a second-hand bike.
Is a helmet compulsory?
Yes. No helmet, no riding. It must fit properly and be done up for the whole session.
What else should riders bring?
Closed shoes, gloves, a water bottle and clothes you don't mind getting dusty or muddy.
Sessions
When are the sessions?
Our weekly skills sessions are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 16:00 to 17:00 during the school term, plus school sessions. See the skills coaching page for the full list.
Where do you ride?
Our home track is at Ashton College in Benoni. In Pretoria we coach at Hoërskool Waterkloof in Pretoria East.
What happens when it rains?
If there is lightning or the track is unsafe, we cancel and let registered families know on WhatsApp.
Fees and admin
How much does it cost?
Fees depend on the sessions you sign up for. WhatsApp or email us and we'll send you the current fees.
How do I pay?
You get a monthly invoice by email or WhatsApp with a link to view it, and you pay by EFT using the invoice number as reference.
How do I stop?
Give us one month's notice in writing; email or WhatsApp is fine.
